Chapter 9 of the Bedford Book of genres emphasized how important it was to edit and revise your papers. Personally, I hate revising my papers. I know how important it is and that you need to do it in order to have a pretty good essay, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. When I write my first draft, I feel like I usually get everything I need to say out and that I hit all of the major points of the thing that I am writing about. I feel like that’s good and bad in a way. I feel like it is good because I have confidence in my essays and I don’t stress it out by editing too much and end up with a poorly written paper. But it is also bad in a way because I might think my paper is really good and that it hits all of the requirements but it still might not flow like how the readers would want it to. When I do revise my papers, instead of adding words, I like to read over it again and again while finessing my sentences to sound more fluid and make it sound like something someone would actually have a good time reading.
