My project has a lot to do with the black experience while attending a Predominantly white institution. I think I chose this because I can relate to that topic a lot. Specifically, because I go to Florida State University. One thing that relates to my project is the black lives matter movement that’s going on around the country. The Black lives matter movement is basically a protest to make awareness of how black people are being treated unfairly. Specifically, with police officers shooting a lot of un armed black people and not suffering any major consequences for their actions. Another thing that the black lives matter movement protests is how it seems that not only with the justice system, but with jobs there is a lot of discrimination towards people of color. This all correlates with my project because this is a very sensitive topic and there are a lot of people with very extreme opinions which could cause issues here at school. People get harassed for their opinions sometimes and attending a school where those opinions may be the majority can be a little frightening for a black student.
